A Family Story, Rooted in Hospitality
Llanerchindda Farm is more than a destination—it’s a home, a workplace, and a labour of love for the Hadley family. Martin and Lynn Hadley, seasoned hoteliers with decades of experience running award-winning hotels in the Lake District, brought their passion for family-led hospitality to Mid Wales in 2005.
They were joined by their sons, Andrew and Mark, who had grown up immersed in the rhythms of hotel life, gaining firsthand experience in service, management, and the care it takes to run a welcoming, thriving business.
Over the past 20 years, the family has shaped Llanerchindda into a unique retreat: a place where guests are greeted personally, meals are crafted with care, and every corner reflects warmth, heritage, and a deep respect for the land.
For Martin, Lynn, Andrew, and Mark, hosting is about ensuring every visitor experiences the best of what Mid Wales has to offer—and feels completely at home while doing so.

Heritage and History
Llanerchindda, historically a principal hill farm for the Cawdor Estate, has been part of the Welsh landscape for centuries. Its original name, Llanerch Hindda, translates to a “Sunny or Fair Place on the Hill,” a fitting description for its elevated location overlooking the Bran Valley and the grade 2 listed Cynghordy Viaduct.
Over time, Llanerchindda evolved from its roots in sheep and cattle farming—and a famed farmhouse dairy—into a guesthouse and self-catering business around 1980.
When the Hadleys took over in October 2005, they embraced the challenge of transforming the farm into a welcoming retreat while honouring its heritage and the stories embedded in its land and buildings.
Today, Llanerchindda carries forward the legacy of Welsh hill farming, enriched with modern comforts and family hospitality.

The Land and Setting
Set across 50 acres of rolling fields, woodland, and a serene pond, Llanerchindda offers breathtaking views of the Cambrian Mountains, the Brecon Beacons, and the historic Victorian viaduct.
Streams wind through the property, paths invite exploration, and corners of the garden are left wild to encourage local wildlife.
The farm is alive, not just with the landscape but with activity. Guests can wander through peaceful woods, picnic by the summer house on the lake, or simply sit and soak in the expansive views.
The land is a backdrop to the experiences, memories, and connections made here.
A Home for Guests

The guesthouse and cottages at Llanerchindda are designed to feel like home from the moment you arrive.
Whether it’s the cosy log fires, the warmth of a homemade meal, or the gentle personal welcome from a Hadley family member, every detail is intended to make guests feel at ease.
From the Guest House with its nine en-suite bedrooms, to the self-catering cottages—Y Stabl and The Farmhouse—each space blends comfort, heritage touches, and spectacular views.
Here, visitors can relax, unwind, and step fully into the rhythm of Mid Wales, enjoying activities from walking and cycling to stargazing, 4×4 adventures, and clay shooting.

Our Values and Approach
At Llanerchindda, hospitality is personal.
The Hadleys aim to provide an experience where guests can fully engage with the surrounding countryside, enjoy locally sourced food, and take part in activities designed to delight, challenge, and entertain.
Sustainability is at the heart of the farm: solar panels, a biomass boiler, EV charging points, natural borehole water, recycling, composting, and carefully managed landscapes all ensure that the beauty of Llanerchindda endures for future generations.
Guests leave feeling relaxed, enriched, and inspired by both the land and the care that goes into every stay.

A real gem in the Welsh hills with wonderful views of the valley and railway viaduct - the Brecon Beacons in the far distance. Clean and comfortable room. Food was excellent especially the three course dinner. A family run business and it shows since all the personnel are so friendly and helpful. A warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Looking Forward

The Hadleys continue to dream big. Plans for the future include expanding accommodation, enhancing the grounds, developing more activity offerings, and creating a retreat where modern pressures fall away and the joys of the Welsh countryside come into sharp focus.
For the Hadleys, the reward is simple: returning guests, new discoveries, and the knowledge that Llanerchindda remains a place where the heart of Mid Wales can be experienced fully, naturally, and memorably.
