With on-site accommodation, peaceful outdoor spaces, and access to some of the most visually striking scenery in Wales, the farm has become a popular base for creative breaks of all kinds.
Photography Retreats

Llanerchindda is a well-established base for photography holidays and workshops, offering access to a wide variety of dramatic and unspoilt locations across Mid Wales.
The surrounding area provides endless creative subjects—from misty valleys and mountain views to waterfalls, rivers, forests, and historic landmarks. Popular nearby locations include the Elan Valley, Llyn Brianne Reservoir, Soar y Mynydd Chapel, and Dinas Rock Nature Reserve, all offering unique and constantly changing photographic opportunities.
We work with experienced local photographers Nick Jenkins, and Dafydd from Serydda (astro photography / light painting workshops ) Both of whom run guided photography courses from Llanerchindda. These retreats include accommodation, meals, transport to locations, and expert tuition in landscape photography techniques. Guests benefit from both structured guidance and the freedom to explore at their own pace.

Painting & Art Breaks
The landscapes surrounding Llanerchindda have long been a source of inspiration for artists, offering sweeping views, dramatic light, and a sense of space that is increasingly rare.
From early morning mist over the valleys to golden evening light across the hills, the environment provides constantly shifting scenes for sketching and painting. Quiet corners of the grounds, including the lake and woodland areas, offer peaceful spaces for outdoor work and reflection.
Painting retreats can be self-led or combined with guided visits to nearby scenic locations, allowing artists to immerse themselves fully in the landscape while developing their practice in a calm and supportive environment.

Music & Creative Group Retreats
Llanerchindda is also an ideal location for music groups, writing retreats, and creative workshops of all kinds. The peaceful rural setting provides the space and quiet needed for focus, collaboration, and inspiration.
Groups can make use of communal areas within the Guest House, as well as outdoor spaces for informal sessions and gatherings. The relaxed atmosphere encourages creativity without distraction, making it well suited to rehearsals, songwriting retreats, and small creative workshops.
With accommodation for up to 19 guests in the Guest House and additional self-catering cottages available, we can host both small private groups and larger creative gatherings.

One of the greatest assets of Llanerchindda is its location. Set within 50 acres of Welsh countryside and surrounded by some of the most scenic landscapes in the UK, inspiration is never far away.
The nearby Cambrian Mountains, Brecon Beacons, and remote valleys of Mid Wales provide an ever-changing backdrop of light, weather, and terrain. Forest trails, rivers, reservoirs, and historic landmarks all contribute to a rich visual environment that supports creativity in all forms.
Even simple moments—morning mist over the valley, reflections on the lake, or dramatic skies at sunset—become natural sources of inspiration.


Accommodation for Creative Stays
Guests staying for creative retreats can choose between comfortable en-suite rooms in the Guest House or self-catering cottages for more independent stays.
The Guest House offers a warm, welcoming environment with communal lounge areas, dining spaces, and views across the valley, while the cottages provide flexibility for groups who prefer a more private or self-contained arrangement.
Meals can be provided as part of your stay, including breakfast, packed lunches for field trips, and evening meals made using local ingredients. This allows guests to focus fully on their creative work without distraction.

Flexible Retreat Packages
Creative retreats at Llanerchindda can be fully tailored to suit individuals, tutors, and groups. Whether you are planning a structured workshop or a relaxed self-led break, we can help design a package that works for your needs.
Options include guided photography trips, transport to locations, meal packages, accommodation, and access to local knowledge of the best seasonal viewpoints and hidden locations.
We are also happy to support visiting tutors and organisers who wish to run their own retreats from the site.
